    What is marketing?

Marketing is the way in which companies attempt to create two-way communication between themselves and consumers. It enables companies to identify the needs and wants of consumers, and communicate information to consumers about their products. Marketing includes all activities from market research through to advertising and packaging.

Identify an interactive entertainment company and visit their website to investigate the following issues:

    • Identify 10 ways in which they fulfil consumers' needs and wants, and are therefore successful at marketing
    • Identify five ways in which competitors offer a product that appeals more to consumers
    • Could your chosen manufacturer's products be more appealing to consumers?
    • Consider the Shinkendo Oi case study. Identify all the ways in which the project team could consider marketing the console to schools. Present your findings in a wall display
